Preparing for Hurricane Season 2020
As if a pandemic wasn't enough, Floridians are entering into hurricane season. Due to restrictions and the concern over the coronavirus, it is easy to forget that hurricane season is right around the corner. We are already starting to see some tropical storms forming in the Bahamas. Is your association preparing for hurricane season 2020 that officially begins June 1st?
Whether your Southwest Florida Association started preparing for hurricane season 2020, it's essential to heed this advice:
Keep Your Residence Informed
Regularly send your residents updates on the hurricane status. Be sure to post evacuation routes and other information to make sure residents know what to do in case of an emergency. Post this information in common areas, such as bulletins in the community center.
Make Information Packets
Send packets to residents that include contact information for your Condominium Associate's property manager. Other important contact information you could include is local food stores, shelters, and local state emergency departments.
Update Your Emergency Kit

Record of Insurance
Take pictures and videos of the property before a storm to facilitate damage assessment afterward. Also, be sure all the insurance policies are current and have all the contact details on hand as a backup plan.
Backup Computer Data
Be sure to backup all critical association computer files. You can do this through a cloud network or by purchasing an external hard drive. You may also want to print out a list of association vendors and owner contact information. Be sure to put this information in a safe, water-resistant place.
Keep Your Community Safe
