Throw the Best Football Association Party!
Football season is a great time to throw an association party! As you prepare your get-together, it is important to keep three goals in mind. First, try to come up with a theme that will motivate everyone to attend. Second, include some residents of your community in the party planning. And third, remember to stick to your budget. With these goals in mind, here is your 6-step guide to hosting an association football party that will not fumble!
Step 1: Form a Planning Team
Putting together a small group of people to help plan your party achieves three goals. First, your planning team can help spread the word about your party. Second, you can use this event to involve one or two people who may not be football fanatics to get involved in the fun. Lastly, you can set up your party to reflect the ideals of your community.
Step 2: Pick a Date that Works for the Community
Before you invest money in food, party favors, and invites, choose a date and time that works well for your association. For example, be sure to host a party for your town's team when they are at an away game. More than likely, association members will be in town and not at the game.
Step 3: Promote Your Party
The third step is to make sure people in the community know about the event. You will want to advertise at least three weeks out, not only to give your guests a reasonable time to RSVP but also enough time for you to promote the party. More people will likely come to your party if you utilize this strategy.
Not only should you give people an ample amount of time to know about the party, but you must know how to spread the word. Here are some tips on how to advertise your event:
Your homeowner's association newsletter: Use programs such as Canva or Crello to create an attractive ad.
Flyers in common areas: Flyers and posters in common areas or member's mailboxes is a sure-fire way to spread the word.
Social media: Create an event on Facebook and invite community members.
Email: See if you can get access to the member's email list. Many associations have directories where you can find this information, too.
A phone tree: Start a group text and ask members to spread the word adding people to the group.
Step 4: Watch a Game/Play a Game!
This step is primarily for those party-goers that aren't huge football fans but love a good challenge. Having a "Best Football Dish" contest will include members of your community who would like the chance to show off their grilling skills or cooking talents.
You can also host a fun game of football squares and give away prizes to your contest winners. Be sure to advertise the rewards when you promote your party to entice people to participate!
Step 5: Get Plenty of Ice & Drinks
It just isn't a party without some adult refreshments on ice. Beer and malt beverages are great options for this type of party. However, be sure to have other options, especially for those that don't drink alcohol or for those under age. Also, don't forget to provide simple snacks, such as chips and peanuts, to complement the dishes people will bring.
Step 6: Get Revved-up for Next Year!
Be sure to thank those that attended and let them know you will be hosting another Football Party next year! It is never too early to spread the word and start a tradition in your community!
